I often forget how to compress my multi-megabyte images so that they're under 1MB in size, so then I consistently waste 5-10 minutes googling what command to run. In honor of this, today's post is dedicated to my future forgetful self:

convert <input file> -quality 30% <output file>

And for everyone else, yes, this command is from the ImageMagick suite. The resize and gaussian-blur options are also great for reducing file size, but since I don't need to use them nearly as frequently, here's the link to the documentation instead.

If I end up needing them more often, I'll edit this post to include examples for both of those too.
